Pat & John are ready to welcome you on the “Springtime in Ireland 2009 Tour.” (Photos show Pat & John surrounded by scenes from previous Springtimes in Ireland)

The merry month of May in Ireland is a special time! Fuchsia (left), rhododendron, hydrangea and wild flowers bloom on the roadside, gardens burst with new colors, baby lambs and calves romp on the hillsides, and the festival season begins. The sun doesn’t set till after 9:30 p.m., so you get long hours of daylight to savor this most beautiful time of the year.

It’s the “real Ireland” that you have always dreamed of experiencing. And no place is better than along the scenic Southern Coast, warmed by the Gulf Stream – from Waterford to Kinsale, Bantry and Killarney.

Step back in time at 13th century Cahir Castle, learn how Waterford Crystal is made, kiss the Blarney Stone, cruise on Kinsale Harbor, ride in a horse-drawn cart through Killarney National Park, savor the subtropical environment of Bantry Bay, take a walking tour of Waterford with local guide, watch as sheep dogs round up the sheep on the Kerry hillsides, hear the Irish language spoken, join in traditional Irish music and dance –  and just relax and breathe the sweet spring air.

This is a Sunday-Saturday trip, just one week away. Our itinerary has been arranged by CIE Tours International, Ireland’s top tour operator. We have reserved rooms at four centrally-located hotels to present Ireland from different perspectives – urban life in an historic Viking city (Tower Hotel, Waterford), a yacht-filled harbor resort (Trident Hotel, Kinsale), a picturesque bayfront setting in a country town (Maritime Hotel, Bantry) and an elegant old world hotel amid mountains and lakes (Malton Hotel, Killarney).

The “early bird” price is $1,799 for the complete escorted land tour with airfare from New York, if you book by February 1, 2009.   After that date, the price is subject to (higher) individual airfare at time of booking.  You can also buy “land only” for $1,369, which means you buy your own airfare and get the best deal from your gateway, or use frequent flyer miles, etc.  If you need assistance in getting the best airfare, we will help you via email or phone.

Travel in the company of the "Ireland Expert," Patricia Preston and her husband John. You'll be in good hands every step of the way, as Pat and John share their knowledge, experience, travel tips, and love of Ireland. This is our third year hosting Spring trips, but the first time we have been able to get May dates. Our tours do book out quickly. So, don’t delay — this is a special one-of-a-kind tour.
