The Dingle Peninsula, and particularly the town of Dingle, has long been noted for its vast array of excellent guesthouses. Some, like Greenmount House and Doyles, have been trend-setters and have won many awards. The places featured below offer all rooms with private bath/shower (en suite) unless otherwise noted. At the entrance to Dingle town, this modern 3-star guesthouse, run by the O'Shea family, has been a dependable fixture since the summer of 1963. Built in a modern Tudor design, with paned windows and pastel-colored façade, this eye-catching 3-star guesthouse sits at the east entrance to Dingle town within walking distance of the Pier and all the main shops, restaurants, and pubs. Brook Manor Lodge, Fenit Rd., Tralee, Co. Kerry, tel. 066-712-0406; fax 066-712-7552; e-mail: brookmanor@eircom.net. Located about one mile west of Tralee, this modern country manor-style house sits on pastoral meadow lands with a babbling brook, surrounded by views of the mountains. Castlewood House, DingleCastlewood House, The Wood, Dingle, Co. Kerry, tel. 066-915-2788; email: castlewoodhouse@eircom.net, is the luxurious non-smoking domain of Brian and Helen Heaton.  Overlooking Dingle Bay, this new purpose-built guesthouse offer 12 deluxe rooms and junior suites with private bathrooms that have whirlpool Jacuzzi baths and separate walk-in pressure showers. Facilities include elevator access (rare in most guesthouses and B&Bs), an antique-filled drawing room and spacious dining room with a collection of local art. Coastline Guesthouse, The Wood, Dingle, Co. Kerry, tel. 066-915-2494; fax 066-915-2493; e-mail: coastlinedingle@eircom.net. As its name implies, this purpose-built 3-star guesthouse overlooks the coast of Dingle Bay. Proprietor Vivienne O'Shea offers 7 rooms including ground floor units, each with phone, TV, hairdryer, and coffee/tea-maker, and some with water views. It is about a 5-minute walk into town. Doyles Seafood Bar & Town House, John Street, Dingle, Co. Kerry, tel. 066-915-1174; fax 066-915-1816; e-mail: cdoyles@iol.ie. Comprised of two adjacent houses, this 4-star guesthouse has long been a mainstay for quality accommodations and fine food in the heart of Dingle. Although it is no longer owned by the Doyle family, current proprietor John Cluskey is working hard to carry on the golden tradition. Set on a hillside overlooking Dingle Harbour and town, this modern bungalow-style home has always been one of my good-value favorites, starting as a small B&B and now as a 4-star guesthouse with 9 rooms, many of which have expansive views of Dingle Bay. Greenmount is the home of John and Mary Curran who have won many awards for their excellent guest rooms and creative breakfasts - ranging from traditional egg and meat dishes to specialty items, such as crustini (ham and pineapple with cheese, tomato, or mushrooms); fried banana with bacon and mushrooms; and smoked salmon omelets, not to mention all types of home-baked breads, scones and pastries. Breakfast is served in a cheery plant-filled and skylit conservatory and guests also have access to sitting rooms with picture-window views. It's about a 10-minute walk down a hill into town. Overlooking Dingle Bay in a quiet setting on the west side of Dingle, this new 4-star guesthouse is just a 5-minute walk from the edge of town. Proprietors Nuala and Cameron Heaton offer 16 guest rooms with every modern amenity including power showers, TV, phone and coffee/tea-maker; most rooms have water views.
