We Took a Flight Across The Sea
A Poem by Mary Ann Walkovich, Danbury, CT (Oct. 2003)

We took at flight across the Sea
It was my cousin and me and forty others
To visit a land that everyone wants to see
The green green grass with sheep laying in the breeze
With cows and horses all in threes
We took a flight across the Sea

We started our first day in Galway
To walk around and find our way
A trip to Galway Crystal
To look around and listen for the whistle
We had a Welcome Drink before dinner
Making sure our tour would be a winner
We took a flight across the Sea

With an Irish breakfast to pave our way
We get on the bus for a fun full day
From Galway to Kylemore Abbey to Killary Harbor
And back to Galway for more
We board a catamaran to see the sights
With the sun so bright and the breeze just right
On the way back the sheep are grazing and the cows are amazing
We took a flight across the Sea

On day three we leave Galway and travel to Adare
Where the weather is great and we are all in pairs
Up Corkscrew Hill to visit the cliffs of Moher
The cliffs were unbelievable we wondered if there were more
The sky so blue the clouds so white
And the view was just our of sight
We took a flight across the Sea

Day four is here
And we are still in Adare
To Drumcolliher to visit the Irish Dresden Factory
Where porcelain figures are produced daily
Te Bunratty Castle to explore
Cottages and shops and much more
To the pubs to test the drink
And to watch and see who will wink
We took a flight across the Sea

Day five arrives very fast
And we think of the days that have past
To Blarney Stone we go
To see who will kiss the stone and glow.
Back to the hotel we go
For a horse drawn car ride
To visit the Muckross House as we show up with pride
To the on-site weaving and pottery studio
The sites were just beautiful
We took a flight across the Sea

Day six is well upon us
We venture out to the Ring of Kerry with no fuss
To look at the Ladies View
And take some pictures too
Then back to town to have some lunch
With all of us in a bunch
We take a stroll around the streets
Stop at the Church so we can see
Then back to the hotel to rest our feet
We took a flight across the Sea

By Day seven we thought we were in heaven
To have done all we had
To start off to the airport we were glad
We said our good-byes
With tearful eyes
To sit and wait for our flight to start
We were all apart
We took a flight across the Sea

I can’t believe that seven days have gone by
With forty six of us, Pat, John and our driver Joe
Some of Joe’s stories made us laugh
And some made us think.
With the history of Ireland told to us day by day
We learned about every place we stayed
With Joe’s Irish wit
He never left us in a pit
We thank God, we had Pat, John and Joe as our guides
For they never left our sides
Thanks to the three of you
Or we would not have had a clue
With the green pastures and green mountains too
All the sheep grazing and cows in tow
What a great trip we had all because of you
We took a flight across the sea.
